Iv seen a wharfedale 42" 1080hp ready digital lcd tv?

what does the 1080p mean is that good,iv looked at other tellys around the same price,and they dont say1080 hd ready,im confused ,i just want a decent telly .�499.00 should be �799.00,it allso has a free 3 yr warranty via leaflet,good buy or not cheers ,
